Food regimen?
Wanting to know if this is a good meal plan for my two little dogs, a 2yr Pomeranian and a 4yr Chihuahua where both are under 13lbs but a little overweight each. My vet recommended my new Pom, who has grade 1 locating patella, lose 2-3lbs and my Chihuahua the same (his joints are healthy just precautionary). The measurements are per dog not total:
- 1/2 cup of Hill’s science sensitive stomach/skin dog kibble
- 1 pump of Omega 3 fish oil
- 1/2 crushed tablet of Cosequin’s joint health supplements every other day
- 4 food topper pellets of Stewart’s healthy hips
Throughout the day I’ll also give them various treats, not a ton but usually at least one chew treat (either a dental one by fresh kisses or a stick type one by kindful) that takes them a while to get through and a handful of pieces of freeze dried chicken or other quick little treat.
They don’t like the meat logs in the fridges of PetSmart, tried to do a mix of kibble + those but they’d ignore it. They do like actual wet food so sometimes they split a can of Hill’s joint health beef stew if I think to grab a can when at the store.
