Can a guy and a girl be friends if both understand that a relationship between them is impossible?

There’s this girl I really like, primarily as a person, and then as a girl, but I do like her as a girl too. And she likes me too, but we have completely different views on relationships. She’s for a patriarchal setup where the man fully covers the financial side, while I believe both should contribute equally to the relationship. Both of us have principled stances on this. However, I’m willing to just be friends with her without any romantic involvement. I’d simply like to have this person in my life. So, the question is: is it possible to maintain such a friendship between a man and a woman?
