Do guys like geeky girls?

Hello! Im just having trouble talking to guys. Its almost prom where I am and I want to go with a date but I dont know how to ask anyone out. There has to be some boy out there with the same interests as me, right? (Edit to rephrase and expand on some things) Im HORRIBLE at talking to people. Im literally the quietest person in all of my classes. Im trying to find a date that has the same interests as me and its a struggle. So how do I find a guy with my shared interests, how do I talk to him, and where is he hiding?
